Welcome to my colourful world of art, creativity and community.
I create colourful original paintings, community murals and creative wellbeing projects across Lancashire. My work has been collected by celebrities including Kerry Katona, Dan Walker, Sian Gibson and Tamzin Outhwaite, and I was a contestant on Landscape Artist of the Year.
Alongside my work as an artist, I’m a qualified teacher, Therapeutic Arts Practitioner and doctoral researcher at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan). Whether you’re looking for an original painting, a community mural or a creative project, I’d love to hear from you.

Well this was a lovely surprise to find! 
The Lancashire Evening Post have featured the Kingsfold Community Centre mural project I worked on with the young people from Penwortham Youth Club.
Such a great project to be part of and I loved seeing their ideas come together (and their confidence grow!) over the six weeks. 
Really nice to see their hard work getting a bit of recognition too

Take a look at the great work youngsters have done in creating a series of vibrant boards outside Penwortham Community Centre.
We have provided £500 of funding to support Penwortham Youth Club, which is delivered by First Kick Foundation, to design and create the boards.
They worked alongside local artist Shiryn Wynter, who facilitated and guided the creative process over six sessions, helping the young people develop ideas, explore artistic techniques, and transform their designs into large-scale public artwork. Together they created eye-catching designs inspired by community, identity, and positive change within Penwortham.
The project has been supported by Penwortham Town Council, with funding from us and South Ribble Borough Council.
Nicola Evans, Area Housing Manager, said: “As a lot of our tenants and families use the community centre, we wanted to help young people have a say in their community and create something they could be proud of.
“It has not only brightened up the area, but also brought people together and helped create a more welcoming space for everyone.”
Amy Dullenty, from First Kick Foundation, said: “Throughout the project, the youngsters have used art as a way to express what Penwortham means to them and how they would like it to grow and feel in the future.
“Their aim was to transform the space with bright, eye-catching artwork that not only enhances the look of the building but also creates a more welcoming and uplifting environment for everyone who passes by.
“This project has been a wonderful example of creativity, collaboration, and community spirit, and we’re incredibly proud of the effort, imagination, and enthusiasm shown by all the young people involved.
“A massive thank you to South Ribble Borough Council and Progress Housing Group for funding this project and making it possible.”
Artist Shiryn Wynter said: “It was wonderful to see the young people grow in confidence throughout the project and take real ownership of the designs. The artwork reflects their ideas, personalities, and pride in their community, and I hope it is something local people will enjoy for years to come.”

About Me
Hi, I’m Shiryn.
People often ask me what sort of artist I am, and the honest answer is… I don’t really fit into one box.
Yes, I paint original artwork, but I also create community murals, work in schools, run therapeutic art sessions and seem to have a habit of saying yes to projects that are a little bit different. That’s probably why no two weeks ever look the same!
I’ve exhibited my work in all sorts of places over the years. I’ve had exhibitions in galleries across the North West, two solo exhibitions at Southport Flower Show, ran my own gallery in Preston city centre for two years, and more recently have been taking my work into GP surgeries to make original art accessible in everyday places.
Although I love exhibiting in galleries, I also believe art should be seen in everyday places. That’s why I’ve worked with GP surgeries across Lancashire, helping brighten waiting rooms with original artwork. If a painting can make someone smile while they’re waiting for an appointment, then it’s done its job.
One of the things people often comment on is the hidden details in my paintings. I love the idea that someone can live with a painting for years and suddenly spot something they’d never noticed before. A tiny bird, a hidden pathway, a splash of gold catching the light or another little surprise. It gives each painting its own personality and means there’s always something new to discover.
Alongside my painting, I work with schools, councils, charities and community organisations, delivering therapeutic art sessions and large community mural projects. Some of my favourite days are spent working with children and young people who don’t always realise how creative they are until someone gives them the chance. Watching a blank wall become something the whole community is proud of is just as rewarding as finishing a painting in my studio.
I’m also a qualified teacher and currently studying for a Doctorate in Education at the University of Central Lancashire, researching teachers’ perspectives on behaviour in schools. It might sound completely different to painting, but for me it’s all connected. Whether I’m teaching, painting or creating a mural, it’s all about people.
